    Welcome Message from David Edman

David EdmanMuch has changed in the month since we last published RMP Advisor. Immediately after President Obama signed health reform into law, I wrote my reactions on my blog. As our April feature discusses, healthcare remains an employer-based system for the foreseeable future, with relatively little impact on employer purchasing of benefits over the next 4 years. Learn how I see the new legislation affecting employers, and see if you could benefit from a new tax credit.

Health Tip
Shopping for Nutritious Foods  When shopping for yourself and your family, always read the ingredient labels on food packaging. Large processing companies often use words on their packages that are deceptive marketing ploys. Try to avoid or minimize purchasing food with the following types of ingredients: enriched wheat, hydrogenated corn syrup, cottonseed oil, "natural flavors," or monosodium glutamate. These are additives that lengthen a product's shelf life or heighten the flavor so that your tastebuds cry out for more. Do the bulk of your shopping on the perimeter of the food store. This is where you will find greater nutritional value, where the dairy, meats, and fresh produce are located. Read more.
