    Welcome Message from David Edman

David Edman As a subscriber to RMP Advisor, you've probably read our 10 Steps to Fixing Your Company's Healthcare. I encourage you to pull it out or download it again and re-read the 10 Steps. Why? Because the short-term impact of healthcare reform for most employers will be an increase in their costs. But you don't have to be like most employers.

This month's feature, we focus on Step #5 in: "5 Steps to Reducing Your Pharmacy Costs." For many employers, prescription drug costs are a potential for substantial savings. By finding ways to control your organization's healthcare costs now, you'll create recurring dividends and realize even greater savings over the long term.

5 Steps to Reducing Your Pharmacy Costs

5 Steps to Reducing Your Pharmacy CostsPharmacy costs are like healthcare costs — they're often out of control. And the biggest obstacle to controlling pharmacy costs and enhancing value is a fundamental resistance to change. It takes time to allay fear and overcome the barriers to change. But when you do, you'll find that you can rein in costs without reducing coverage, increasing co-pays, and charging employees more for their insurance. Read more.

Health Tip
Pain Awareness. As we age, we become aware of various aches and pain messages our body signals to our brains. If the pain is new and sharp, you should get medical attention immediately – especially if the pain seems life threatening. Other pains are ones we seem to just tolerate as they're due to old injuries or reasons that we understand. But if you don't know the cause and need to take pain-relief medicine for more than 3 days, be sure to check out your situation with a healthcare practitioner.
